Section 83. Paplatelė – Plateliai.

In this section the Forest Trail leads to the eastern part of Plateliai Lake, the territory of the Paplatelė recreation area. In the summer, it is one of the most popular places for tourists. Tourists are attracted by a wide range of services: campsites, rural tourism homesteads, water services, catering establishments. The way of the Forest Trail is surrounded by the largest forest massifs in the Žemaitija National Park. Forests cover more than a half of the national park (54%). Pine and spruce forests dominate. Also, in this section of the Forest Trail, the route goes along the edge of the northwestern part of the Plokštinė Nature Reserve (845 ha). Human economic activity is prohibited here. The collection of forest products, hunting, cognitive tourism is prohibited, thus ensuring the natural course of nature processes. Attention to nature, its resources and their preservation is one of the priority areas in the Žemaitija National Park. The route of this Forest Trail section winds around the largest lakes in the Žemaitija National Park – Plateliai, Ilgis, Beržoras lakes.
