Section 58. Laulasmaa - Vääna-Jõesuu.
Practical information
Length: 19 km
Duration: 6 – 8 h
Start: Laulasmaa, opposite the Laulasmaa school
Finish: Vääna-Jõesuu coastal promenade, 0,5 km from the sea -
Itinerary: Laulasmaa – Lohusalu – Keila-Joa – Türisalu – Vääna-Jõesuu
Road surface: Sandy, rocky beaches, forest and coastal trails, asphalt roads, park trails, wide sandy beaches, short sections of cobblestones. In some places, there is soft, silted sand, which makes walking difficult.
Difficulty level:
Obstacles: You can cross the Keila River (in Keila Park, ~ 1,5 km from the place where it flows into the sea) and the Vääna River (near its mouth) via pedestrian bridges.
Dangerous places: You must not approach the upper part and the base of Türisalu Cliff because rockfalls occur regularly as a result of the waves washing away the cliffs. The cliffs consist of comparatively unconsolidated sedimentary rocks (limestone, dolomite, sandstone, etc.), the slabs or blocks of which often hang over empty spaces. In Lohusalu, you have to walk along the side of the street for a short period.
Good to know! You should avail yourself of binoculars for bird watching. No accommodation is available in Vääna-Jõesuu, but it has regular bus traffic (timetables: www.peatus.ee, www.tpilet.ee) going to Tallinn, Laulasmaa and Kloogaranna where there are accommodation options. Suitable (closed, water resistant) footwear is necessary, walking poles are advisable for support.
