From Lääniste to Kavastu, the road alternates between open terrain and mixed forests. To the east of it, the wetland around the Ahja River, the downstream part of the Emajõgi River and the Koosa River up to Piirissaar in Lake Peipus have been united into Estonia's largest nature reserve named Peipsiveere.
