Penijõe Birdwatching Tower (Penijõe linnuvaatlustorn)
The 8 m high tower offers interesting views across the 3000 hectare wide Kasari river flood lands.
The 8-metre Penijõe observation tower has an open platform and there are benches at the top of the tower. The tower offers a view of the 3,000-hectare reed bed located between the delta branches of River Kasari. The reed bed is one of the most exciting habitats in Matsalu National Park.
On spring nights, you can see bitterns in the reed-bed and hear sedge warblers, Savi's warblers, and crakes. In the summer, the inhabitants of the area hide themselves in the reed bed, up to 4 metres in height, and you might also see the marsh harrier or the white-tailed eagle gliding in the sky.
You can take the Penijõe hiking trail to reach the observation tower.
