The Forest Trail leads through forested dunes and continues along Lake Mazais Baltezers, which is a nutrient-rich and, therefore, overgrown lake. Specially protected old or natural boreal (dry coniferous) forests can be observed in certain places. This section of the Forest Trail leads along the nature reserve “Garkalnes meži”, which is the largest nesting place of the European rollers in Latvia. It is home to the protected sand lizard, which lives in dry and sparse pine forests.
