Section 66. Juodkrantė – Klaipėda.

Starting point: Juodkrantė port

End point: Klaipėda, Birža Bridge

Course of the route: Juodkrantė – Alksnynė – Smiltynė – Klaipėda

Road surface: Single-track forest trails and other trails, sandy beaches, paved beachside walkways.

Difficulty: Medium 

Danger points: Be careful when crossing the main road on the Curonian Spit (No. 167).

Keep in mind! Accommodation needs to be booked in advance in the summer season. Check the ferry timetable in advance: www.keltas.lt. The New Ferry is used by vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians, while the Old Ferry is available only to pedestrians and cyclists. Services available in Juodkrantė, Smiltynė and Klaipėda.

Alternatives: You can walk to the pier (an additional 2 km out and back) from the Sea Museum (1.5 km from the Old Ferry). If it is windy, you can take the old road from Juodkrantė to Alksnynė. It is a forest trail to the east of the protective foredunes.
