Vihasoo birdwatching tower
Vihasoo birdwatching tower
The most bird-populated area of Lahemaa national park.
The Vihasoo birdwatching tower takes you to one of the areas with the most birdlife in Lahemaa National Park, where coastal meadows, the sea, and the bay's many islets offer excellent opportunities for observing nature. From the tower, you can see Eru Bay and its islets, which provide nesting areas for 26 bird species and serve as an important stopover for migratory birds. In spring and autumn, you can observe bird migration here, and in summer, you can check out animal life in the coastal meadow.
The seven-meter-high tower can accommodate about twenty people at a time, and the viewing platform is located about four meters above the ground. Information boards help you learn more about the birdlife of Eru Bay and also introduce the protected elm tree growing along the path. The observation tower has a permanent exhibition of bird pictures, making the climb interesting even when fewer birds are visible.
The tower is located on a pasture enclosed by an electric fence, where beef cattle roam. Access is through a corner gate that animals cannot pass through. Come to Vihasoo and enjoy the birdlife of Lahemaa at your own pace!
