The Maiļrags Spit is one of the areas bordering Lake Liepāja where a wide variety of bird species can be observed. Both waterfowl and birds that live and nest in the meadows can be seen here.

Birds observed here

Eurasian coots, common pochards, tufted ducks, and northern shovelers breed near the Maiļrags. During spring migration, Caspian terns, little gulls, corn bunting, lesser black-backed gulls, black terns, and red-crested pochards can be observed here.
