In our tea culture workshops, will discuss the history of tea-drinking in the Old Believers’ villages, talk about what Ivan chai is and how it is made. The workshop is carried out in a cosy house of Old Believers. We will bring the water straight from the well, make samovar tea from it, and taste the traditional cooked sugar of Old Believers.
Depending on the season, guests can also participate in the process of making Ivan chai with the hostess of Mesi Tare (summer time) or hear stories on history and the healing properties of tea while enjoying a cup of Ivan chai (autumn-winter time).

How many bees are needed to make one kilo of honey? Does honey always taste the same? How do bees communicate with each other, and how fast do bees fly? How many flowers does a bee visit during a foraging flight?

Your questions will be answered at the unique Mesi Tare honey workshop on the Onion Route. We will taste honey and learn how to distinguish between fake honey and real honey!

We will discuss how each of us can help protect bees and what threats they face.

We will also drink a nice cup of tea, as is the custom of the Old Believers, and explore the impressive samovar collection at the Samovar House.

Come and have a treat with your friends and family!

Alatskivi Ceramics is a unique space where history and Estonian craftsmanship converge – it is situated in the vaulted basement of Alatskivi Castle, where the manor's servants once resided. Now a talented ceramics master works there, creating unique, high-quality handmade clay products on-site – bowls, cups, jugs, and other beautiful everyday ceramics that make lovely gifts!

Visitors can purchase and admire these unique items in the shop and also try their hand at working with clay – the workshops are suitable for adults and are especially popular with children.

You can also visit the castle, the Eduard Tubina Museum, the Alatskivi Castle Horse Stable Exhibition, and the restaurant!
